SDLP Education Spokesperson Daniel McCrossan MLA has welcomed confirmation from Minister Peter Weir that a review into CCEA’s handling of the A level grading fiasco will be independent.
The West Tyrone MLA has been pressing for an independent review of the organisation following the episode which caused immense stress to pupils, parents and teachers.
Daniel McCrossan MLA said:
“I have been pressing the Education Minister to commission an independent review into CCEA and the A-Level grading fiasco since the scale of the failure became apparent. I am pleased that the Minister has acknowledged the need for the probe to be conducted independently to give confidence to the pupils, parents and teachers who felt so badly let down.
“Lessons need to be learned from the mistakes that caused such stress to so many people. We will soon be facing into exams for another group of young people. We cannot allow these errors to be repeated.”
