On 17 October some of our most well-known and loved comedians performed at the Stand-Up for Integrated Education Comedy Night.  An amazing £15,000 was raised to support the growth and development of Integrated Education in Northern Ireland.

Stand-Up for Integrated Education 2024 is the seventh in a series of sold-out comedy nights, with monies raised supporting the work of the Integrated Education Fund (IEF).

Home-grown comedians Tim McGarry, Colin Murphy and Shane Todd were joined by Scottish comic Wendy Wason for the annual gig at the Ulster Hall.

Host Colin Murphy, who began his career at the famed Empire Laughs Back nights and is a regular on The Blame Game, returned this year on compere duties.  Wendy Wason is an established actress and comedian, whose TV shows include Coupling, The IT Crowd and Half My Age Plus Seven.  Her stand-up shows have wowed sell-out audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond.

Tim McGarry, best known for playing Da in ‘Give My Head Peace’ and hosting The Blame Game, brought his 30 years of comic experience to the evening along with his acerbic take on all things local.  Tim is currently touring his one man show ‘Ridiculous’ to rave reviews.

Tim McGarry said:

‘I’m delighted to have been back in the Ulster Hall helping to raise much-needed funds for the Integrated Education Fund, a cause very close to my heart.  It’s fantastic to see how a night of fun can do some good.’

The IEF are delighted to announced that comedian Shane Todd joined the line-up for the first time this year.  Shane is well known for hosting the hugely popular weekly ‘Tea with me’ podcast and fresh off the back of a world tour with a record-breaking run of 16 shows at the Grand Opera House.

Chief Executive of the IEF, Paul Caskey OBE, said:

‘The IEF would like to thank each comedian for generously giving of their time to support Stand-Up for Integrated Education.  We also want to thank everyone who came along and bought a ticket. Every pound raised will help the IEF to continue to support the growth and development of Integrated Education all across Northern Ireland.’

Generously supported by the McCall Foundation.
