Lincoln Awards

The Lincoln Awards is a special bursary programme available to students attending Integrated Colleges in Northern Ireland. 

The Awards are designed to support Integrated College students who have been accepted for a university or higher education place in 2026/27.  Awards offer support for students who are experiencing particular disadvantage or financial hardship. The IEF expects schools to honour the spirit of these awards. Awards will be for £1,000 per student.   

The Lincoln Awards are generously supported by The James Kane Foundation and sponsored by Geraldine Hughes and Conor Allen. 

Application Process 

Each College will be asked to nominate ONE or TWO suitable candidates who meet the criteria above for the Awards. 

The candidates will be required to record a two-minute video presentation which should include the following information: 

• Who they are and what school they attend 

• What subjects they are currently studying 

• What course they would like to study next year and what excites them about it 

• Their longer term hopes and ambitions for the future 

• How receiving a Lincoln Award would benefit them in their first year of University or Higher Education 

Please be assured that these video presentations will only be shared with the donors. They will never be shared with any other party outside of the IEF or shared publicly. 

The videos should be uploaded to wetransfer.com and forwarded to molly@ief.org.uk  along with the completed application form (below), no later than 12 noon on Friday 19 June 2026. 

Filming Tips 

• Film horizontally, not vertically. 

• Video should just be head and shoulders. 

• Choose a calm, quiet place to record your message. 

• Consider your lighting: have a good lighting source in front of you, and avoid filming with a large, bright window behind you. 

• We encourage you to rehearse your message a few times before recording it – you’ll be happier with the result. 

• The video should be no more than approximately two minutes in length.
