Grants that strengthen and develop an Integrated ethos in schools.

The Trust Programme

Generously funded by Pears Foundation and Hagan Homes

TRUST PROGRAMME NOW CLOSED

The Trust Programme – Integration in Practice - is designed to support Integrated schools with embedding the Integrated ethos within the structure of the school. All applications should include school-based and community activities with parent/guardian and pupil involvement that demonstrate an Integrated ethos. Examples of work to be funded include: whole school training for staff, governors and parents; updating school policies; developing school approaches on contentious issues; religious education; assemblies and/or festivals. Schools could consider projects which: challenge stereotypes; recognise bias; celebrate the positives; discuss the differences. For other examples, please see attached document.

Schools are encouraged to apply for activities that will support working towards an Excellence in Integrated Education Award (EIEA).

Applicants are encouraged to work with other Integrated schools close by and joint applications will be accepted e.g. two Integrated primary schools may wish to work together; or an Integrated nursery school and primary school; or an Integrated primary and post primary school.

Funding Available
Funding of up to £5,000 for an individual school project or up to £8,000 for joint projects are available. The total amount of funding available for the programme is limited, therefore the number of grants that the IEF can award is also restricted.

Criteria
In order to be considered for a Trust Programme grant, applicants should show that the grant will support clear development and/or improvements on issues of integration within the school setting including improving religious balance within the school where necessary.

Guidance
A maximum of £2,000 for sub-cover/teacher costs (at a maximum rate of £165 per day) and £1,000 for facilitation costs may be applied for as part of the project. For facilitation costs, preference will be given to schools whose activities provide training. Schools wishing to use external venues may consider applying for funding towards community facilities but should not use alternative venues such as hotels. Single resource items over a value of £100 will not be funded unless specifically requested at application stage. This programme will not fund hospitality, refreshment costs or residential costs. Unapproved changes to any approved grant may not be reimbursed unless prior approval is provided by the IEF.
